       What I have learned in this course is how to make a correct research proposal on a master’s level. Understanding how journal articles and research proposals are prepared has been fascinating. Reading all the books and papers from my DSU master’s courses and writing blog and canvas posts has revealed graduate and doctoral level of scholarly writers, thus preparing me to become a better technical communication. My proposal on trade show economics taught me that I could do research, find a research gap and write about it. The challenges from my background time away from English studies have allowed me to read and write among these great writers found in Fall ENGL6401-50 2021. My writing has improved immensely in 13 short weeks, and an excellent professor and associates have taught me. I will always be a technical writer in my field of practice and look forward to improving to become a great orator on paper. I want to be known as the expert who writes an excellent...

Research Gap

  The research gap within the long hours of a 3-4 day trade show requires the careful management of all sale personnel hours. The exhibitors must address the isolation and boredom factors that many scholarly strategies failed to address so further writing must be done on activities of the idle sales personnel among customers.   A well-developed research question is essential for the success of a study. It's imperative that I spend time honing my research questions. It's important that I am the best time defining the knowledge gap. It's critical to master the literature to find out what is known and what is not known on my focal topic. It's also important to ensure the question is feasible.  Lit. review is totally different than anything I have ever been assigned. As a secondary form of research, I do it often with my work. Looking at the information in the form of manuals, websites, publications in my research and accident reconstruction as an expert witness. I enjoyed looking for information for my research project, but I have had to broaden my search. In patent law, broader searches are done all the time. Most patents are files as broad as the examiner will allow.

  I knew various combinations of ink and paper for around a few millennia with the discovery of the dead sea scrolls, but as Fischer wrote, 5,000 years (Fischer, 2011) was unimagined.   Pen and paper persist for contemporary technical communicators, but new writing technologies have developed dramatically over the last two decades. Now, the latest tools always connect us to a network of spies, capturing our every move. Such as touch screen devices and smartphones that only rotate to the best camera position. What is next now we have widely available eye-tracking systems for usability research, marketing, inexpensive and expansive digital storage. I wonder if Technical Communication will replace crime fighters with a few digital Police. This 2015 publication in Technical Communication Quarterly inspires me to wonder if our prison population is steadily declining.
